Taiwan bans waste oil imports following edible oil scandal

The Environmental Protection Administration on Friday announced a ban on imports of recycled waste oil, following the latest edible oil scandal involving local companies buying oil unfit for human consumption and making it into cooking oil.
The ban, which took effect Friday (December 5), seeks to bar recycled waste oil from entering the food supply chain and prevent the hazards it poses to consumers' health, the administration said.
